This gallery is a melange of my photographic styles as well as a look into my daily life. I try to capture something new every day or else to find something that fits the day. It's a great excuse to carry my camera with me more often than not, and it allows me to stop and take those pictures that need to be taken.

Speedy Spencer

Please allow me to indulge myself in showing off some of my cool relatives this week. This is my nephew as he finished the Lost Pines Turkey Trot 5K. (Doesn't even look like he's breathing hard, does he?)

Several of our family members took part in this hill-acious event on Friday morning. Dustin and two other people finished before the timekeepers were even ready to record times, but we know it was less than 20 minutes. I think Spencer was around 23 minutes. Quite impressive for a 7th grader. (Spencer, if you'll send me your time I'll correct it here)

My brothers and one sister in law all finished. Period. Pretty impressive for anyone if you ask me.

Keeping It All In The Family

Back from a wonderful Thanksgiving Weekend, and I hope you and yours had time to reconnect with the people who mean the most to you as well.

I am SO THRILLED that my aunt and uncle, Mary Linda and Harlan, have bought and started gutting this old house because we'll have a great porch for family pictures in years to come.

Something even more special about this house is that it still has family connections for us. My other uncle (by marriage to my other aunt in this family) grew up in this house. His dad, the previous homeowner affectionately known as Papa Horace, is the gentleman in the brown shirt -- smack dab in the middle of the crowd.

Maybe we'll manage do something about those bushes to make room for more kinfolk after moving day and once things settle down. That's one very cool thing about our family -- there's always enough love and food for more.

Baby Kitty

Meet Baby Kitty. She's a very important member of my brother's household. Because she wandered away and got lost once a few years ago, she even wears her very own pet identification tag with her name and her owner's phone number.

Baby Kitty will be seven years old next month, and so will my niece who loves and cares for her every day.

Just Like Danny and Arnold -- Only we're both the pretty one. ;D

That's right, research and DNA testing have proven that Karina and I are identical twins separated at birth.

Aside from the fact that I am probably old enough to be her mother (had I been promiscuous in my youth) there is no other explanation for the fact that we look exactly alike and have so much more in common than just our birthdays. We share an incredible passion for photography, gardening, and our wonderful and very handsome and supportive husbands -- not necessarily in that order.

Yup -- Mamma did right by us! Happy Birthday SIS!

Horsefeathers!

Okay, band hat plumes in the sunlight. Can you tell which one is on backwkard? A common and very serious error of many incoming freshmen.

By the way, for those of you who are following the Taylor Mustangs, they won again Saturday. It's playoff game Number THREE next weekend. Go STANGS!

A Flower From My Friend -- and For My Friends

Hope it brightens your day like it did mine. Happy weekend everyone!

Question of the Day: What do Smugmug Dailies Buddies like to do when they're not taking pictures?

Answer: Force-feed each other desserts!

Just got back from an absolutely delightful lunch today at Collina's with your friends and mine, Karina Boese and Mike Bustamante. It was SO FUN to meet these two face to face. I LOVE this little community of ours and all the wonderful friendships it helps us build. We'll definitely have to do this again very soon.

What happens when a photographer is waiting for people? Sometimes ultra-cool really fine stuff, other times, just sorta-cool sorta not cool stuff like this . . . It's a light fixture at Maggiano's with a modern antique color treatment and burned to black edges.

Party Like it's 1986
(Yes, I swiped the headline from our local newspaper, the Katy Times)

These kids weren't even BORN when the Taylor Mustangs last won a playoff football game, but they finally did it on Friday night. Stay tuned for the next chapter to unfold on Saturday.

More Football.

Yesterday's shot was AFTER the game, this is the pre-game run-on. It could almost be the "backside" of my October 13 image.

She's MY Sister and I Love Her.

Processing some files today from a recent session. Here are two of the most beautiful babies in the universe -- and I'm not even related to them.

I Voted -- Now Will The Campaigners PULEEZE Take Me Off Their
Telephone Call Lists?

Happy to Vote
Proud to Do It
If the Robo Callers had any influence on me at all, it would have been to encourage me to vote for the candidate with the fewest calls. -- Oh, that wouldn't have left anyone for me to elect.

We always seem to celebrate birthdays late in our house. Ian and Lisa came over for lunch and to celebrate Ian's 21st. I hope they enjoyed our time together half as much as we did.

Muted the colors here and added a ghosted black and white frame. On One's Photo Tools ROCKS! Attend one of their online webinars and you can even get a discount.

Life in a House Divided

Today is the game of the century.

We had a little fun this morning. Made a promise to still be speaking to each other tomorrow either way, but for now I still get the last word . . .Hook 'Em!
