This gallery is a melange of my photographic styles as well as a look into my daily life. I try to capture something new every day or else to find something that fits the day. It's a great excuse to carry my camera with me more often than not, and it allows me to stop and take those pictures that need to be taken.

Smiling Faces!

Oh my goodness I've been having a great time since school started. I have the PRIVILEGE of shooting from the sidelines at our high school football games AND creating the covers and some inside spreads for the athletic programs.

Aren't these some of the coolest kids ever? Wanna see more? . . . Here's a link to the pages that have already come out. If all goes well, there will be more each week.

This Friday will be our Homecoming if Hurricane Ike doesn't have different plans for us.

Color Wheel

Whoosh . . . Been so busy that I never even got around to picking up the crayons after I spilled them on the floor last week . . . much less posting any new dailies. At least they provided quick inspiration so that the folks who check my pics on a regular basis would know that I am still kicking. (Hi Mom)

So, am I wierd or does anyone else who loves colors play this little game with crayons too? I sort of miss some of the old standard blended colors. The new ones have different tones and hues that just don't easily fit into a wheel like the ones from the olden days. And I have still never figured out how to incorporate all the browns, grays, blacks and white into this.

Green Pine Cone

Found this on the lawn at my in-law's house in Tyler Texas. I guess it isn't ripe yet. Fast and furious trip. Fantastic visit.

Colors!

Can't help it. I've been a crayon fanatic all my life. Now I have a new box AND some very cool new software too! Just playing, but now I have to get back to REAL work.

Cross Country -- Helping Skinny Kids Make Friends Since 1972.

School started today, but the cross country kids got a jump on everyone at their meet this weekend. This is our Varsity Girls team.

The quote I used for my header? It's what our boys team has on the back of their t-shirts, and I thought it was hilarious. CC was founded in '72.

Is there any such thing as a moon-set?

This is an early-morning moon over I-10. Cool clouds! The sun-rise that followed ended up being a little less spectacular.

Another image from my recent family shoot. Cute cute and very fun family. When we were nearly done with this series, their cat came to the back door and wanted in. He's in a few of the shots too.

I spent some time on PP work for these today and can share them with the family in the morning. Hope they like them.

Fete Noel

This beautiful family asked me to take portraits that they could use for their Christmas card -- but they didn't want to look particularly "Christmas-y"

Okay . . . I need to do some research on finding and using the appropriate accent marks to go with this headline, but I couldn't resist using a feet shot because the DP community seems to have a fantastic foot fetish.

We have some awesome photos . . . and I believe the family will be pleased, but the ZOWIE will come with a bit of PP work. I'm a bit overwhelmed, however, with the workflow issues because I want to be able to demonstrate the finished products but should probably let the family select their images and THEN do magic on them.

Going a little bit crazy this week . . . but hopefully once we get past a new PP learning curve it will all be worthwhile.

So . . . Whaddaya think? The chair in the background distracts me, so I think I'll work on it next.

Tactile Planning (and yes . . . a desperation shot. I've sort of slacked off in the dailies area lately)

A few people like me still carry old-style paper calenders around. The contacts, however, have mostly migrated to electronic media.

Secrets on the Playground

These best friends are about to be split apart for a while as one heads off to college and the other stays for her senior year in high school. We went back to their elementary school, and this spider web was the only piece of playground equipment that even existed when they went to school there.

Because we spent a couple of hours at three different locations it is way too hard to select just one photo, and I haven't even begun to process the batch. I've got some others that I MUST finish first . . . but you'll probably see another shot or two of these gals.

Love those mischevious smiles. Thanks girls -- for a very fun morning.

Had to pop in to the school this morning wearing my volunteer hat to get a couple of pictures. I just love these blue benches, and they're rarely empty during the school year so I couldn't resist grabbing an image or two.

Summer Band started today. These kids march from 8:00 to noon then they have sectionals from 1:30 to 3:30 and return to march again from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. Doesn't matter that temp is usually in the upper 90's with high humidity -- and they're marching on an asphalt parking lot.

Cross country has been running most of the summer -- multiple miles in HHHH (high heat and humidity) and these are only the activities I have direct and current involvement with. I have no clue what the other teams are doing, but can bet that they are not at home sitting on the couch.

There is SO MUCH already going on behind the scenes for our awesome active and involved students, and school doesn't even start this year until August 25.

Whatever anyone else says, I truly believe that our future is in very capable and well-disciplined hands.
