Sunflowers

The sunflowers we grew pooped out a long time ago. Thank goodness for grocery store florists.

Celebration

Wine bottles at the PRSA (Public Relations Society of America) Excalibur Awards Dinner. I just got the images processed and posted, and while this is a rather severe crop, I really liked the composition and colors,

The Gold The Musical

This weekend I had the privilege of shooting stage call photos for a brand new and extremely emotional musical that is making its world debut in Houston. www.thegoldthemusical.com
Today I did the PP work on their images.

Many many thanks to Matt P. for sharing his theatrical knowledge with me! It made a world of difference for me, and I learned tons from the experience.

This is actually an image combined from two photos. As a rule I was happier with my tighter shots than with the wide shots. I'm sure it has something to do with the wide aperture and shallow DOF, huh?

Here's the link to the gallery. I'm just now uploading it (6:30 pm CST) so check back later if you'd like to see more.

Applause!

A new musical called "The Gold" is about to debut in Houston, and I personally believe it will touch many many lives. It's a heart-wrenching tale of a Holocaust survivor whose dreams of competing in the Olympics were crushed by the Nazis. The music is phenomenal and spellbinding.

Last night I got to photograph the preview party where the cast performed some of the music. I cannot wait for the performances to begin. If you're in or near Houston, it is a must-see!

Finally -- with ony one more day left in November, we have a taste of fall color. It's tiny but mighty.

I managed to stop in the park just before 5 pm when the light was golden and glorious. It was an energizing short walk, and nothing in my basket of responsibilties suffered for it. I'm just kicking myself for not doing it more often. When will I ever learn?

Sunflower in November

Last week I came home from the grocery store with a bundle of flowers that I just couldn't resist. Mike came out to help unload the car, so I handed them to him and said, "Look dear, you bought me flowers. "

He just laughed.

Then I walked inside and I was the one laughing. While I was shopping, he HAD gone out and bought flowers. There they were waiting for me on the kitchen table.

That's just a little history behind this not so happy looking sunflower. This is what's left of one of the blossoms. I simply couldn't toss it yet.
