Finish the Saying . . . "If Life Gives You Lemons . . ."

I think I had a software malfunction because I have NO CLUE how I got this frame effect but I sort of like it. Now . . . to figure out how to duplicate it when I really want it.

Ryann Chelsea in the Rain

Oh . . . the fragrance of this little gem is straight from heaven. Mmmmmm... delish.

It's hard to say what's more exciting. The fact that the Ryann Chelsea Plumeria is actually open or the rain that fell. Yes! Those are REAL raindrops, not the kind that come out of a spray bottle. We only got a trace, but it was a very welcome trace.

The humidity is definitely up. I can tell because my lenses are fogging up for the first time this summer. Maybe that will condense into some more rain. Otherwise, going outside is like walking into a sauna. UGH! I keep reminding myself that some people pay lots of money to sit in a steam bath. We get it for free.

Waiting for Ryann Chelsea (SOOC)

The anticipation is just almost too much to bear. Last fall I bought two plumeria cuttings. Because they were only rooted last year, I really didn't expect any blooms this summer. Still, the Ryann Chelsea variety has been taunting me for several weeks with the promise of blossoms.

Watching the twisted buds grow and start to explode has been very exciting, but then, I just get excited about things like that. You can't imagine the self-discipline it takes to keep from reaching in and trying to help them unfurl. Yes, I know better . . . learned that lesson many long years ago when I tried to help rush a rose bud.

So I'm waiting . . . Maybe tomorrow.

HOT ENOUGH . . .

We've been breaking 100 and setting heat records for the last five days. I think we've topped 95 every day since the first week of June too. Definitely smart to curtail the outdoor activities for the most part.

I tried frying an egg on the sidewalk when I was a kid, and got fussed at for making a mess and wasting the egg. Now I'm the grownup and I'm paying for the groceries.

After about 30-45 minutes the egg did start firming up a bit, but it certainly wasn't anything I would have served to company. Probably should have sprayed the concrete with Pam before I started.

No worries about the mess. Lucy was happy to handle cleanup.

Living on the Edge -- I was hungry and went to the grocery store.
Not quite the same as fresh from the field, but it's the best this city-fied small-town girl can do anymore.

Grasping at Straws

Oh my I love what I do. A $1.98 bag of colored straws -- legitimate business expense -- and time to work in my west studio. La Ti Da!

That's right . . . I have two studios. The main studio is my son's old bedroom which is truly if slowly being converted to a functional studio. The west studio receieves the most wonderful natural south and west light, and it even doubles as a kitchen. Talk about multi-functional!
